Service/ Public Engagement

Madison Police Department

In 2015-2016, I provided data analysis and program evaluation assistance for the Madison Police Department’s Mental Health Officer (MHO) program, which seeks to divert individuals with mental illness from the criminal justice system and link them with community services.

Minority Recruitment and Retention Committee (Department of Sociology, UW-Madison)

I currently serve on a departmental committee jointly comprised of faculty, staff, and graduate students, which aims to recruit and retain historically underrepresented students and faculty of color, monitor and improve the racial climate, and provide resources for historically disadvantaged students.

U.S. Policy Communication Training Fellowship (Population Reference Bureau)

During the 2016-2017 academic year, I have received training through the Population Reference Bureau’s U.S. Policy Communication Fellowship Program on how to more effectively communicate my empirical research to policy-oriented audiences.
