In addition to research and teaching in academia, I have professional experience in the non-profit and intergovernmental sectors, both in the U.S. and abroad.
Breaking Ground (New York, New York)
As a Research Assistant at Breaking Ground (formerly Common Ground), a non-profit homeless services provider, I tracked performance evaluation metrics for twelve supportive housing programs, surveyed service recipients to determine post-program housing stability, and conducted “best practices” research on strategies for housing hard-to-serve populations.
Vera Institute of Justice (New York, New York)
While a Graduate Intern at Vera, a criminal justice policy non-profit, I conducted research for the Center on Immigration and Justice’s Unaccompanied Children Program, identifying “promising practices” for legal service providers representing unaccompanied immigrant children or clients applying for legal relief.
UN Women, West Africa Regional Office (Dakar, Senegal)
As a Communications Intern at the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality, I provided copy-editing assistance for press releases and news reports, helped develop strategic partnerships with local media groups and women’s advocacy organizations, and created and maintained a bilingual (English-French) blog, the office’s first online presence.
